The following text should be remembered: This is the initial of two classes: Introduction to CS and Programming Using Python and Introduction to Computational Thinking and Data Science. These courses are meant to teach individuals with no prior computer science or programming knowledge how to think computationally and create programs to solve practical problems. Some students taking both courses may use them as a starting point for more advanced computer science classes, while for others, it may be their first and only exposure.
The objective is to give students a brief overview of many topics. Hence, they understand what is feasible when considering how to use computation to achieve a certain goal later in their careers. However, they are not "computation appreciation" courses. They are demanding and thorough courses in which students invest significant time and effort to learn how to control the computer to suit their needs.
