This course will teach you to distinguish between stochastic and deterministic models, understand their appropriate applications, and perform simple simulations of stochastic models. It includes evaluating the assumptions behind the Ross MacDonald model and coding it in R to simulate vector-borne disease dynamics. Additionally, you will develop the skills to critically evaluate modeling studies and communicate their strengths and weaknesses to a scientifically literate audience.
